AI Study Support for College Students
Start with the material your class actually covers, identify what you cannot yet explain, and practice those topics before collecting more notes. An AI study workflow is most useful when it connects your syllabus to questions you can answer independently.
Paradigm Study gives you an AI notebook for organizing learning materials and working through lessons and practice. Bring a topic, your notes, or a document you are permitted to use, then describe the task you need help learning. Keep your course requirements nearby so you can check the scope.
Choose the starting point for your class
| What you have | Useful next action | What to check yourself |
|---|---|---|
| A syllabus and an exam date | List the examinable topics and schedule review blocks | Instructor announcements may change the scope |
| Lecture notes you recognize but cannot explain | Ask for short questions, then answer without notes | Whether your answer explains the reason, not just the term |
| A confusing worked problem | Ask for a hint about the next step | Rework a similar problem independently |
| Several weeks of slides | Sort them by topic and identify missing prerequisites | Definitions and notation against the original slides |
Example: prepare for a biology midterm
Suppose the exam covers membranes, enzymes and cellular respiration. Begin with one question per topic. Explain why a membrane is selectively permeable, how an enzyme changes a reaction, and where energy is transferred during respiration. Mark each answer as independent, prompted or incomplete.
If you can explain membranes but confuse enzymes with reactants, spend the next session on the distinction. Write a new example in your own words, check it against your notes, and try a fresh question later. This produces a small record of understanding that is more useful than the number of pages you reread.
Use AI within your course rules
For graded work, follow the instructor's policy and write your own submission. Use a tutor to clarify ideas, ask questions and examine your reasoning. Generated explanations can be wrong, so verify definitions, quotations and numerical answers against course materials or an instructor.
For exam planning, use our finals study plan. For the document workflow, see studying from lecture notes and PDFs. Neither requires copying an entire textbook into a prompt.
